This Privacy Policy explains the privacy practices for the USIHC website at icelandics.org. Please note that our site is also accessible via multiple alternative URLs, including usihc.com and usihc.org. This Privacy Policy applies to all URLs that lead/link to our primary site at icelandics.org.

The USIHC website collects the following four types of information:

Some of the functions and services offered through icelandics.org require you to provide Personal Data (e.g., your name, billing and shipping addresses, email address, phone number, birth year for junior/youth members, the name of your farm or business, the names and relationships of family members for family memberships, payment details). We use your Personal Data for consumer and membership purposes, including processing membership applications, answering inquiries about USIHC services, resolving technical issues, registering horses, placing classified ads, or answering general questions.

We use your Personal Data to process membership applications, to maintain member records, to communicate with members, to register horses, to share details about upcoming events (e.g., horse shows, clinics, workshops, meetings, horse expos and trade shows including Icelandic horse displays or demonstrations) and to distribute materials produced by the USIHC and/or its affiliated regional clubs or third-party partners (e.g., meeting minutes, membership and horse registration forms, the Quarterly magazine, WorldFengur access information, awards, educational programs, pleasure riding programs, and our Rider Badge program).

We may collect Demographic Information, such as your gender, age or ZIP code to help us plan how to enhance our website content and functionality and to make decisions about other services that might be useful to USIHC members.

We may collect Technical and Site Usage Information (e.g., which browser or device you use to access our site or which site you came from before visiting our site). If you are using a mobile app, we may collect information about your location if you have that service option enabled on your device). This information is used to ensure the optimal functioning and security of our website and to improve our ability to assist you with technical issues that may arise when you use our site.

Submitted or Posted Information includes any information you send to us or post in a publicly accessible location on our site, as well as emails, texts, instant messages, or other communications you send to us. Posts in public areas of the site will be shared with other site users as designated at each posting location on the site. Some posting areas are accessible to all site visitors; others are accessible to members only. Please note that you are responsible for reading all on-site notifications related to the accessibility of your posts and for understanding who may view any post you voluntarily submit.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection:

The USIHC has a strong commitment to protecting the privacy of children and youths. No personal information should be submitted or posted at icelandics.org by individuals 17 years of age or younger without written permission from a parent or legal guardian. Personal Data required to secure youth memberships for individuals 17 years of age or younger must be submitted by a parent, guardian, or other legal caretaker.

If your child has submitted Personal Data through icelandics.org and you wish to review that information or if you want it corrected or deleted from our records, please email to info@icelandics.org. The USIHC pledges to undertake all reasonable efforts to assure that your requests related to the privacy of your child’s Personal Data are honored to the fullest extent possible.

We encourage parents to be aware of their children's online activities and to learn about software that can help them monitor the sites their children visit and the material they can access online.

 

Access to Information and Sharing Information with Third Parties

Only authorized employees and volunteers with the USIHC are permitted to access Personal Data submitted through our website. Those employees and volunteers must abide by our Privacy Policy or they will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination and other legal action.

The USIHC does not sell any of your Personal Data to anyone and we never will. The USIHC will not share any Personal Data we collect through icelandics.org with any unaffiliated third parties without your consent. Unless otherwise noted below, data we collect from you will only be accessible to and used the USIHC, its affiliates, its technical consultants, and approved third-party partners to deliver content and services through our website.

We work with our affiliated regional clubs (see www.icelandics.org/regionalclubs for a list of affiliated clubs) and with selected third-party partners (e.g., PayPal, WorldFengur). These partnerships allow us to provide services, deliver content, and enhance website functionality.

We choose our online partners carefully, and each of them has strong policies in place to protect Personal Data. We require all our partners to verify that they meet or exceed the terms specified in this Privacy Policy. In most cases, we link to the sites of our online partners. If you elect to use a service on our site that involves a partner, you will have the option visiting their site to review their Privacy Policies to help you make informed decisions about using their services and sharing your Personal Data with them. If you have concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.

The USIHC may also provide aggregated statistics Demographic Information and Technical and Site Usage Information to reputable third-parties for statistical analysis, but these statistics include no Personal Data.

Occasionally, the USIHC may make names and postal addresses we collect through icelandics.org available to selected, reputable companies and organizations whose products and/or services may interest you, unless you opt out of being included in our postal mailing list.

The USIHC will use commercially reasonable efforts to delete records from our database when we receive requests to do so. However, because system backups may retain residual copies in some instances, we cannot guarantee deletion in every instance. In such cases, we will work with you to attempt to satisfy your request to delete your information as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

If you submit your contact details through icelandics.org to request information from an advertiser or other third party, the USIHC is not responsible for any marketing or other use of your name by the third party.
