The USIHC competition committee is focused on the regulation and promotion of Icelandic horse sport competition in the United States in accordance with FEIF. The USIHC Sport Committee oversees and supports the development of Icelandic horse sport competition in the United States under the umbrella of the United States Icelandic Horse Congress. Its work helps ensure that competitions are organized according to established rules and standards, while promoting fairness, sportsmanship, and education within the sport community.
The committee is responsible for maintaining and interpreting sport rules, coordinating licensed sport judges and officials, supporting competition organizers, and helping develop pathways for riders—from grassroots participation to national and international levels. It also works to align U.S. sport activities with international standards, strengthening connections to the global Icelandic horse sport community.
Ultimately, the Sport Committee fosters a strong, well-organized competition structure that celebrates the Icelandic horse’s unique gaits, athleticism, and partnership with its rider.
To join the Sport committee, members must attend the USIHC Judging seminar.
