FEIF stands for International Federation of Icelandic Horse Associations. It represents a collective of national Icelandic horse associations from 20+ countries, with more than 80,000 members globally.
The organization was founded in 1969 to connect people who share a passion for Icelandic horses and to unify standards across countries.
FEIF sets international standards and coordinates major aspects of the Icelandic horse world, including:
Sport rules and international competitions (like WorldRanking events)
Breeding standards and evaluation systems for the breed
Education systems for instructors and trainers
Youth programs, leisure riding initiatives, and international events
Global horse registry tools such as WorldFengur, the international Icelandic horse database.
